McKittrick, California

Several million cubic yards of gravel will be mined from the Cooper Gravel Pit for use by local companies in areas such as road surfacing and oil well construction.

Porter & Associates was retained by Mr. Stan Cooper to provide civil engineering and surveying services for surfacing mining gravel in the McKittrick area and preparing a reclamation plan.  Included in the design was a boundary and topography survey, a mass grading plan, slope stability, drainage control, erosion protection, access ramps and a reclamation plan.  Horizontal and vertical control points were established around the perimeter of the surface mine in order for the County staff to periodically check setbacks, slopes and depths of the open mine pit.
